I painted this (very familiar) view because of the delightful play of light and shade, and the 'possibilities' afforded by this winding path, and the gate into the field at the end. Where do they go to? Paintings should be a chance to escape somewhere...maybe into your memories or a fantasy world of relaxation and warm sunshine. Maybe it's not a fantasy world at all...I leave that to you.
